I love to Craft. Well, to make things in general actually. I don't think I could ever live without "making" things. My personal favourite is making patchwork quilts. Many years ago I realised that while making, creating, hand crafting things was fun, the therapeutic quality hidden within the process of creating was completing understated.
I began running my own craft group then, offering others the opportunity to share their love of craft, while secretly also offering them a safe, supportive space to relax, unwind and unload. The craft is really just the excuse.
Women are so amazing. We max ourselves out every day in order to manage our own busy lives and then still find time to sit and make things. Some days (or weeks) more than others of course. That's life I'm afraid. And even though there is very little, if any, actual need to make things anymore we still do. Why is that?? I believe the need to make or create runs so deep for women. As if its written into our DNA. What is often overlooked, in my opinion, is that in the act of making something yourself, with your own hands, you are actually performing an act of Self Love. Subconsciously you are choosing to give yourself time to relax ... that's amazing!
I still run a weekly craft group. I love it. The group consists of a wide range of women, mostly Mummies and Grandmothers, from all walks of life. Each more fascinating than the next with their own stories to share and ideas to bring. Its an amazing feeling to look around the room each week see these women who deliberately choose to make this group a priority in their week because they too love to Craft.
Sewing, Knitting, Crochet, Quilting, Scrapbooking, Stamping, Embroidery, Cross Stitch ... I don't discriminate :-)
A while back I began creating my own designs and patterns as a way to clear out some space in my already crowded brain. Every now and then I will post up a project that is easy and well worth trying. I hope you will. Please share them with your friends, and let me know what you think.
